Development Environment Addon

It's often the case that work-in-progress changes need to be checked before they get deployed to staging. Staging might be where clients or other stakeholders QA changes, or try out new content before submitting it to production.

So to tackle this need, we introduced the "Development Environment" addon. It effectively adds a third environment, where you can deploy feature branches and try out changes. It works in exactly the same way as the existing staging & production environments; you can sync bundles to it, add custom domains, import data from other environments, etc.

Similar to the billing with our other addons, it is included as part of your monthly/yearly project plan.

This addon is applied only once.

Applying this addon #

To add this addon to your project, do the following:

  1. Visit the "Addons" section your project's Plan page.

  2. Under the "Development Environment" row, click the "Add" button to view the price breakdown (no change will be made or charge taken at this point)

  3. Click the confirm button to apply the addon. This will take a charge from your team's billing card and then immediately perform a sync afterwards to deploy the upgrade.

  4. You should now see the "Development" environment appear in the navigation sidebar.

You might want to try importing staging or production into development get things up and running quickly.
